We have a new drummer!

The Rainband

We’d really pleased to welcome our new drummer James Cowell to The Rainband.

After five years of dedication our original drummer Steve decided to leave. He had this message for everyone.

“I would like to thank all of you who took the time and effort to support The Rainband; from those of you who were there at the beginning, right through to the lovely people we met in Italy on the Paolo Nutini tours. My fondest memories of The Rainband will always be those of the friends we made along the way. You’re all fantastic and it’s because of you that I enjoyed my time with the band so much. As for the lads, Joe, Sam, Phil and Martin, I know I have made friends for life in them and will continue to support them in all their future endeavours. Thanks for the adventure lads! It’s been a blast!”

Steve has plans to start a new musical project over the summer and we will bring you news of that as it develops. We wish him all the best for his future musical projects.

Rainband confirmed to play BL9weekender festival with Razorlight, Echo and The Bunnymen and The Happy Mondays

BL9weekender

The BL9weekender festival will be the first music event to take place at the JD Stadium, Gigg Lane Bury. Acts confirmed so far are The Rainband, Razorlight, The Happy Mondays and Echo & The Bunnymen. Playing on the hallowed Gigg Lane turf will be extra special for Rainband co-founder and guitarist Phil Rainey who is a lifelong Bury FC fan. Phil had this to say…

“We’ve played City Square at The Etihad Stadium and some monumental outdoor festivals with Paolo Nutini and Simple Minds but this will be our first football stadium gig inside the ground. I’ve had some great times and some shockers in the stadium over the years so I’m looking forward to a good one, hopefully celebrating promotion to League One at the same time. It really does mean a lot to play this festival, my Grandad introduced me to the club as a small child, he passed away two years ago and his ashes were scattered on the pitch. This ones for him too.”
